A cappella Quartet

Helen Lappert – Bass

Helen comes from a musical family. Her grandfather was a professional violinist and her great-aunt founded The Chopin Society. Her love of singing was encouraged by her parents who inspired her to take singing grades and to compete in national and international festivals.  As part of a choir, Helen appeared on television and radio and has also enjoyed taking part in Old Time Music Hall and plays in a local theatre.

Helen joined Amersham A Cappella (then Chiltern Harmony) in 1998 and was instantly bitten by the bug of barbershop singing (try saying that after a few glasses of wine!). Shortly after joining, she became section leader and later formed a quartet called Cheek To Cheek who sang together for 3 years entertaining at functions and winning awards at the LABBS national convention.

In 2005 Helen became Musical Director of Amersham A Cappella and has taken the chorus from strength to strength, leading them to win the bronze medal at the 2007 and 2008 LABBS conventions. Despite forming NoteOrious at about the same time, Helen has still managed to find time to develop and run her own business, The Singing Circle. Around 50 children and ladies who love to sing now take part in small group workshops and individual voice coaching sessions. The groups regularly join forces to perform in local festivals and competitions.

From time to time, Helen also gets to see her tolerant husband, children and dog!
